Mid-Semester Review

The Mid-Semester Review process was designed to provide you with feedback of your academic performance midway through the semester. Students identified for the Mid-Semester Review process include:

  • all new first semester students (freshmen and transfer),
  • Athlete students,
  • Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students, and
  • all students on Academic Probation

Instructors provide mid-semester evaluations of your performance using indicator codes of: Satisfactory (S), Unsatisfactory (U), or progress not yet available (I). Mid-semester progress reports received from faculty will be transmitted to you and to your advisors. You are encouraged to promptly follow up with your instructors and advisors where your performance is less than satisfactory.

What should you be thinking about if you receive "U" evaluations or are not satisfied with your own performance?

Since this is midway through your semester you should do the following immediately:

  • Make an appointment with your instructor or visit the instructor during office hours to discuss your progress.
  • Speak with your academic advisor to go over all of your options. If you are thinking about resigning a course, you should consult with your academic advisor (Resigning a course can have financial aid implications and there may be limitations on future registration into a previously enrolled course, including a Resigned course). Please review the Course Enrollment Control Policy for information on possible registration limitations.
  • Seek tutoring for the specific courses in which you are under-performing.
  • If you are working more than 20 hours per week, think about cutting back some hours to get more studying done.
  • Attend an academic success workshop on time management, study skills, test anxiety, etc.
