101 Essential People, Sites, or Posts for UB Undergraduates (Part 2 of 10)

This post is the second in a series of 10 which will outline the 101 most essential people, websites, and Internet postings for UB Undergraduates. Most of the information will be academic or career related, but there is definitely a little bit of fun thrown in. Check things out and be sure to utilize these resources through graduation AND BEYOND! At the end of the series, a compilation post will appear with links categorized for easy reference.

11. CashCourse- This interactive site provides personal finance information geared towards college students.
12. Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (CURCA)-Provides opportunities and funding for student research. Work with faculty members who are doing cutting-edge research and gain valuable experience.
13. Configure Google Scholar to Search UB Libraries
You can search all of the University at Buffalo library collections via Google and access full-text journal articles at the click of a button.
14. The Advanced Honors Program- Even if you weren’t in the Honors program when you entered UB you can still take advantage of what it offers later on in your UB career. Check out the enriching experiences that the Advanced Honors Program provides.
15. UB on iTunes- Tune in to podcasts featuring events and information from all over campus. Your professor might even be using them for class. All ready to download and go!
16. GoogleApps Tour
UB has implemented Google Applications and Gmail for its students. Now that you have the resources, make sure you know how to use them!
17. UB Student Association- They bring you Fallfest, the SA book exchange, and teacher evaluations. Be sure to take advantage of their free movies and events throughout the academic year. Club information can also be found here.
18. Academic Advising Directory-Don’t know who your academic advisor is? Check this list out! Click on your intended or approved major and the contact information for your advisement department will be displayed. Contact that office to make an appointment to speak with someone. Try to meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester.
19. University at Buffalo Academic Advising on Facebook-Become a fan to receive daily updates and information regarding academics here at UB! Get a heads up on important dates, deadlines, and information.
20. University Calendar- Want to find out what’s happening on campus this week? Check here first! Find the latest free lectures being given and even where there might be free pizza! Get involved early and often here at UB!
