NOW is the Time to Meet with an Academic Advisor

Posted October 24, 2006 in General

If you haven’t already, NOW is the time to meet with an academic advisor to help you select courses and plan for your spring semester schedule.

If you are undecided about a major, remember to schedule your appointment with Student Advising Services. If you have an intended or approved major, consult the Advising Directory for your appropriate advising unit. If you are a first semester freshman, your Mandatory Advising appointment must be scheduled with Student Advising Services by Friday, October 27, 2006. Call us today at 645-6013!

Reminder: Checkstops can prevent you from registering for spring semester classes.
A checkstop is used by a UB office to “freeze” a student’s records and prevent future enrollment activity until the student has met the requirements for its removal. Financial checkstops particularly serve the additional purpose of prohibiting other University services such as the receipt of a diploma, certification services, or transcript release until the student has satisfied the financial obligation. Log on to MyUB today and be sure you do not have a checkstop on your account!

Remember: The Spring 2007 Electronic Class Schedule is now available.

Plan ahead and be sure to check when your Registration Window opens and you are eligible to register for spring 2007 classes. Also, be informed of all critical information regarding Spring 2007 Registration.

Mid-Semester Grading

Posted October 24, 2006 in General

As we reach the mid-point of the fall semester, now is the time to talk with your instructors about your progress in their courses. If you are a first semester student, your instructors will be asked to provide mid-semester evaluations that indicate whether you are currently performing Satisfactory (S), Unsatisfactory (U), or progress not yet available (I) in your courses. If you receive an Unsatisfactory (U) mid-semester evaluation, an e-mail message will be generated to your UB e-mail account to inform you of this progress. Whether you are a first semester student or a continuing student, remember to be talking with your instructors for assistance and utilize the various support services on campus to help you.

Are You Experiencing Warning Signs that may Predict Academic Difficulty?
1) Are you falling behind on assignments?
2) Have you missed several classes recently?

4) Are you relying heavily on a friend for help in completing assignments?
5) Do you feel restless and listless, as if something is wrong but you’re not sure what it is?
6) Do you feel constantly tired or spend a lot of time sleeping?
