Have 60 Credits and No Declared or Accepted Major?

Posted February 10, 2006 in General

While exploring various majors can be extremely positive, students should have an accepted UB major by the time they reach 60 credit hours completed. An accepted or approved major is a formal course of study approved by an academic department, which when completed, will permit a student to graduate.

If you are approaching 60 credits and are undecided about a major or cannot yet apply to your major of choice, be sure to contact an advisor from Student Advising Services for assistance. Also, take advantage of the upcoming workshop MAJOR Decisions: Choosing an Academic Program that’s Right for You on Wed., Feb. 22, 2006 from 4-5 pm in room 145C Student Union. Come to this workshop and discover all of the information you need to make good choices regarding majors, minors and other academic opportunities at UB.

Financial Implications: Students who receive the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) are required to have either an accepted major or at least a declared major on file with UB upon completion of 60 credit hours. If you receive TAP and do not have an accepted major at 60 credits, it is imperative that you at least have a declared major on file with the University. To declare your major with UB, log on to MyUB, visit the Web Registration link and select the Update My Intended Major button.

Visit UB’s Undergraduate Catalog for more information on Financial Aid regulations.
