Urgent Checkstop Warning

Posted October 13, 2005 in General

Have you logged into MyUB and noticed that you have a #2 checkstop on your account? Remember that SUNY has mandated all UB students to acknowledge receipt of and affirm the University’s standards for behavior. If you have failed to do so, a #2 checkstop has been placed on your account and prevents you from being able to register for spring 2006 courses. Be sure that you go on-line now and affirm UB’s Rules and Regulations! You need only your UBit name and password and the #2 checkstop will be removed immediately. Affirm today!

Do you have other checkstops on your account?
Remember that a checkstop is used by a UB office to “freeze” a student’s records and prevent future enrollment activity until the student has met the requirements for its removal. Financial checkstops particularly serve the additional purpose of prohibiting other University services such as the receipt of a diploma, certification services, or transcript release until the student has satisfied the financial obligation.

As spring course registration is approaching, remember to log on to MyUB and be sure that you do not have any checkstops on your account! Particularly if you are a first semester freshman, you need to schedule your Mandatory Advising appointment with Student Advising Services by October 21 to avoid an Advising (A) checkstop.

Mid-Semester Review

Posted October 13, 2005 in General

As we reach the mid-point of the fall semester, now is the time to talk with your instructors about your progress in their courses. If you are a first semester student, your instructors will be asked to provide mid-semester evaluations that indicate whether you are currently performing Satisfactory (S), Unsatisfactory (U), or progress not yet available (I) in your courses. If you receive an Unsatisfactory (U) mid-semester evaluation, an e-mail message will be generated to your UB e-mail account to inform you of this progress. Whether you are a first semester student or a continuing student, remember to be talking with your instructors for assistance and utilizing the various support services on campus to help you.
