October 3, 2005 - Rosh Hashanah. Classes cancelled after 6 pm.

October 4, 2005 - Classes resume at 6 pm.

October 7-9, 2005 - Family Weekend.

October 12, 2005 - Yom Kippur. Classes cancelled after 6 pm.

October 13, 2005 - Classes resume at 6 pm.

October 21, 2005 - Last day for continuing students to “resign” for a Fall 2005 course with a grade of “R” (by 11 pm). Also, last day to apply for a Leave of Absence for Fall 2005 semester. Note: First semester students only have an extended resign deadline of Friday, November 11, 2005.

Spring 2006 Class Schedule Now Available

Plan ahead! The Spring 2006 Electronic Class Schedule is currently available.

Now is the time to be meeting with your academic advisor to plan a schedule for the spring semester. If you are undecided about a major, schedule your appointment with Student Advising Services. If you have an intended or approved major, consult the Advising Locations directory for your appropriate advising unit. First semester freshman, your Mandatory Advising appointment must be made with Student Advising Services by October 21, 2005. Call us today at 645-6013!

Be sure to also check when your registration window opens and you are eligible to register for spring classes. Note: Your registration window is determined by the number of credit hours you have completed prior to your currently enrolled semester.

Be informed of all critical information regarding Spring 2006 Registration.

The office of Career Services has assembled more than 45 employers at UB to speak with students about job opportunities in the health-related professions. Opportunities in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, Social Services, Research and more will be present. Avoid a Checkstop: Affirm UB’s Rules & Regulations

SUNY has mandated that all UB students acknowledge receipt of and affirm the University’s standards for behavior. Failure to do so will result in a checkstop on your account and prevent registration for courses for the spring 2006 semester. Be sure and affirm UB’s Rules and Regulations on-line now. You need only your UBit name and password.

Checkstops will be placed on students’ records in early October 2005. So be sure that you affirm now and are able to register!

Mandatory Advising
Remember that first semester freshman are also required to meet with a Student Advising Services advisor before spring 2006 course registration can occur. Be sure and make your appointment now and gain help with second semester planning, choosing a major, and information about important University resources to enable you to be successful at UB. Spanish & French Proficiency Exams

They are intended for students with 3 or more years of high school Spanish or French and to test a student’s elementary and intermediate level proficiency.

The Learning Center

The Learning Center offers free tutoring services in math and writing.

The Math Place assists students with the following courses: ULC147 and 148, MTH115, 121, 122, 131, 141, and 142. Please bring your textbook, notes, and any problems or questions that you might have.

The Writing Place guides students through the writing process and assists with the organization of ideas and the perfection of grammar. Students are encouraged to bring in their papers, essays and projects to the Center.
